Day 6: H1N1 and baseball
Why is it when you’re sick and miserable you LOOK sick and miserable too? What’s up with that anyway? I mean, having one of them isn’t bad enough? My poor eye is still swollen shut caused by constant watering from all my sneezing and my nose is still red (and sore) from the same. My head hurts and my while my appetite has returned, unfortunately my stomach never got the memo!
It’s been a long, long week. Ira and I are tired all the time and the coughing and shortness of breath hasn’t lessened up that much. The fits come unexpectedly with no hint until you feel yourself catch your breath and then you are bent over in pain and reaching madly for the inhaler. Our strep throat is cured, but the H1N1 symptoms have hardly made a dent.
I can’t remember ever feeling this crappy and for such a long period of time. I’m missing work and it ‘s driving me nuts, because I’ve got projects waiting and and more keep piling up every day – the pile is going to be huge when I get back.
As long as I have your attention, can I vent just a little more? You’re a doll to be so patient with me, and I don’t think I do it all that terribly much. Okay, so here goes. We’re cooped up in this house and going absolutely stir crazy. But even if we could go out we’re too tired to attempt it. And it is hard to believe that the simplest act such as eating, can take all your energy away! Far as I can tell, the only happy ones around here are our pups. They never like us to leave them so they’re getting their dreams come true!

And you know what else I’ve discovered? Having to deal with a sick man is bad enough, but having to deal with one when you’re in the same boat – impossible! Women are the tough ones. We may be smaller and in some cases physically weaker, but when everything is said and done – those big babies couldn’t last a week without us. When I feel up to it I think I’ll mention that to my strong, macho husband, just to shake things up a bit. But not today, or tonight, and probably not tomorrow – I’m too tired!
On another note, those damn Yankees did it again, pulling their fat outta the fire and earning their 27th World Series title, breaking in their new ballpark the way they did back in 1923! Ira hates the Yankees, and me – well I like the way they can almost always pull it out in the end no matter how dismal the beginning. Those damn Yankees! They did it again and I love em for it!
